Global warming and climate change: What's the difference? This time, we're going to talk about a hot topic: climate change. Here, we'll discuss the effects of this phenomenon briefly and simply, as well as how it differs from another popular term: global warming. By Roberto Diaz Blanco Although the terms climate change and global warming are sometimes used interchangeably, they are not synonymous. The evidence is obvious that the Earth is warming. Climate change is a word that is widely used to describe environmental devastation around the world. Climate change - what is it? According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), any major change in climatic measurements that lasts for an extended length of time. As a result, climate change encompasses considerable variations in temperature, precipitation, and wind patterns, among other things, over several decades or more.  How does global warming work? It's important to distinguish between climate change and global

Renewable Energy's Future is Threatened By Global Warming.

Renewable Energy's Future is Threatened By Global Warming. In spite of what common sense may tell us, solar energy and climate change are not good partners. By Roberto R. Diaz Blanco   A recent study published in Nature illustrates how global warming is diminishing solar irradiation—or, in layman's terms, sunny days—exactly in the places on the earth where photovoltaic output is currently highest. As a result, climate change has a detrimental impact on solar energy output on a worldwide scale, and will continue to do so in the near future. Another recent study has backed up these findings, showing how, in the instance of Australia, local solar and wind energy production has declined in recent decades. The true significance of both studies is that they focus on a larger issue: transitioning to renewable energies is one of the keys to mitigating and minimizing climate change; however, it's possible that before that happens, global warming will cause critical changes in atmosp

We Are Weakened By Prolonged Stress. Here Are 10 Anti-Stress Foods.

We Are Weakened By Prolonged Stress. Here Are 10 Anti-Stress Foods.   In order to recover and beat it, we need to replenish the nutrients and other substances that help make dopamine and serotonin. By Roberto R. Díaz Blanco A physiological response to a genuine or imagined threat is called stress. The body prepares to fight or run-in stressful conditions, even though stress is common today due to our hectic lifestyles. In any event, it's critical to replace nutrients that the body uses more frequently during those times, such as vitamin C, magnesium, calcium, and omega-3. Also, keep in mind that your body requires extra energy. That's why, when we're stressed, we seek more processed foods with hydrogenated fats and a lot of sugar or salt, which are temporary pleasures that throw off the nervous system's balance. We can relieve tension, normalize blood sugar, and de-stress by eating healthful foods. Some baked meals aid relaxation and sleep. Pumpkins, sweet potatoes, pot

My Life, My Work, My Career: How 6 Principles to Organize My Mind Helped Me Succeed.

My Life, My Work, My Career:  How 6 Principles to Organize My Mind  Helped Me Succeed. Healthy living is possible when the mind is organized. Six principles, or rules of order, dictate how the brain organizes itself. By Roberto R. Díaz Blanco It's not about organizing your office, your home, or purchasing the latest app to keep track of pending tasks; it's about the mind's power to reach higher order - a calm, wise, positive, and strategic perspective — and the skills needed to get there. Obesity can be caused by variables such as a disorganized mind, impulsivity, persistent negativity, high stress, and multitasking, according to a recent study by the US National Institute on Aging. The ability to order your thoughts is based on the brain's usual connections. So, how can you begin to develop your natural organizational skills? 1. Master your frenzy: You must first deal with your negative emotional fury before you can focus your attention (worry, anger, sadness, irritabi

7 Truths Why You Can Not Be Happy

Image
7 Truths  Why You Can Not  Be Happy Happiness is something that is in our hands, it is an attitude towards life, a daily decision. By Roberto R. Diaz Blanco  We often wonder what makes happy people different from unhappy people. While there are people who, before or after difficult circumstances, have the ability to go through these processes and continue to be motivated and happy people, others, when a painful situation occurs, remain remembering it and suffering for years. In this post we will reveal 7 Truths Why You Can Not Be Happy: 1. Obsession. People who obsess over little things every day: what they have to do, what their partner told them, what happened yesterday with a partner, their weight, their image... they lose the possibility of enjoying the present. By constantly remembering something that worries them, they are presenting the situation, suffering again, for something that has already happened or has not happened yet. In general, they are people with a high degree of d

Fried sweet potatoes are known as patates in Guinean cuisine, where they are more popular than potatoes and more commonly used to make fries. Recipes for fried sweet potatoes in the United States go back to the nineteenth century. Some suggest parboiling the sweet potatoes before frying, while others call for frying them with sugar. 8 Simple, Yet Effective Ways to Honor Our Deceased

Image
8 Simple, Yet Effective Ways to Honor Our Deceased It doesn't take much to honor a loved one who has passed away. Every time you stop to think about that person—the way they laughed, the way they liked their coffee, that special smile that only you gave them—you are honoring them. By Roberto R. Diaz Blanco  What does honor mean? All cultures have a particular way of understanding death and honoring their deceased. And it is that honoring means precisely that that nobody, that person who has abandoned this existence becomes someone, showing respect, consideration, offering recognition, a place in the family and in society. We are what we are due, in large part, to the relationships that have shaped our lives, thanks to the relationships that have marked our existence in one way or another. Ideas to Honor a Loved One: Accept grief.  It is true that an optimistic attitude is a great ally in our lives, but there are situations that require sadness and frustration. Think that emotions a

5 Facts Everyone Should Know About Russia and Ukraine

Image
5 Facts Everyone Should Know  About Russia and Ukraine  It is feared that a conflict could break out in Ukraine triggered by the concentration of Russian troops near the border with its neighbor. By Roberto R. Díaz Blanco   Why does Russia want to invade Ukraine? After Russia, Ukraine is the second largest country in Europe by area, and both share a land border. Although Ukraine enjoyed a brief period of independence between 1918 and 1920, it later joined the Soviet Union, which collapsed in 1991. Since then, Ukraine has enjoyed full political independence. A history of foreign invasions, from the Mongols to Nazi Germany, has made many in Russia want a wall of buffer states, including Ukraine, surrounding the country. While the United States and OTAN view Ukraine's independence as a positive for the Ukrainian people, Russia continues to build its forces around Ukraine; the prospect of a broader war there is dire to contemplate, and the West continues to threaten dire consequences.

6 Denialist Arguments About Climate Change That You Should Clarify

6 Denialist Arguments About Climate Change That You Should Clarify As political leaders around the world discuss the agreements needed to reduce the volume of greenhouse gasses, there is a problem that has been little talked about: misinformation about climate change. By Roberto R. Díaz Blanco It is not just the climate change denial conspiracy theories that circulate through messaging applications where they have found their very convenient echo chambers. The British newspaper The Guardian recently exposed how Fox Weather, the Fox network channel dedicated to information about the climate, constantly misinforms in its reports: it does not mention the increase in the temperature of the planet as a cause associated with tornadoes , hurricanes, floods, forest fires and snowfalls that frequently affect different regions of the world. Misinformation about climate change can be even stickier than anti-vaccination demonstrations against COVID-19 in the streets. According to a study by Arizon

Corn Soup: It's Not as Difficult as You Think

Image
Corn Soup:  It's Not as Difficult  as You Think Corn soup, or sweetcorn soup, is a soup made from corn. The meal was once only popular in maize-producing areas of the world, but because of increased corn distribution, it has become more widely known. Corn on the cob, water, butter, and flour are common components, along with salt and pepper for seasoning. Additional components, which may include eggs, vary by area. By Roberto R. Díaz Blanco Native Americans Because maize is a main crop for many Native American tribes, corn soup is a popular dish among them. According to M. R. Harrington, the Seneca Indians' favorite dish in 1908 was hulled-corn soup onno'kwǎ'. "[s]eldom do the Indians, pagan or Christian, congregate for any function [...] without a kettle of hot and tasty onno'kwǎ' to regale the audience," he added. People were given a ladleful of soup every time they surrounded the kettle at religious events. How to make a Special Summer Corn Soup? To

The Truth About Climate Change In a few Words

Image
The Truth  About Climate Change  In a few Words Why are we so concerned about climate change, what has caused it and what are the risks? The causes of the greenhouse effect created by human activities and the commitments made to reverse the trend. By Roberto R. Diaz Blanco Life on Earth exists thanks to a combination of three factors: the right distance from the Sun, the chemical composition of the atmosphere and the presence of the water cycle. Specifically, the atmosphere ensures that our planet has a climate suitable for life thanks to the so-called natural greenhouse effect. When the sun's rays reach the Earth's surface, they are partly absorbed and partly bounced outwards; if the atmosphere did not exist, they would be dispersed into space, but instead a good part of them are retained and sent back to Earth by some gasses present in the atmosphere, precisely the greenhouse gasses (among them are mainly carbon dioxide and methane, but also others such as water vapor). Thus
